Sun Way Street - “Rare”

Irish/American duo Steven Eli and Leor Manelis, aka Sun Way Street, have just released a delightful new single entitled “Rare,” a track that explores the significance of having a muse.

Wide and reverberating electric guitar gets things started, with a deep and gentle rhythm section that provides “Rare” with a subtle sense of propulsion. The mood is introspective and gritty, just the way we prefer it, with an overall sound akin to Passenger and James Bay, with a subtle nod to Lord Huron.

The vocal performance perpetuates this vibe, with a subdued layer of falsetto that occasionally rides the main, resulting in a listening experience that will lift you outside of your earthly existence. And although the lyrics reveal an otherwise positive message, the delivery bears a sense of melancholy that cannot be ignored.

A major highlight here is the dynamic live drum performance that adds a remarkable sense of ebb and flow, as well as a fantastic elevation on the final third of the song. Sun Way Street began the recording process with a “single improvised take and production added afterwards.” And go on to say that “Rare” is “about having a muse in your life that makes you feel so happy like a child.”

After hearing “Burn It Down” back in January, “Rare” is our second glimpse into the world of Sun Way Street, and while we await the duo to release more music, please join us in connecting with them across the internet: Spotify | Instagram | TikTok
