Alex Crossland - “Earth to Us” (ft. Graceann Kontak)

New York City-based singer-songwriter Alex Crossland is back on the blog with a fresh release entitled “Earth to Us,” a slow-burning folk number that features Graceann Kontak and Felix Herbst.

Crossland begins “Earth to Us” with the remarkable sounds of acoustic guitar, setting a warm and gentle vibe for the rest of this folksy tune. His vocal soon joins, smoothly instilling the composition with heartfelt lyrics that delve into the “emotional urgency of a young relationship.”

Between the verses, listeners will catch an earful of Herbst’s divine string arrangement, widening the sonic landscape as the sounds compliment the acoustic guitar. It is here that Kontak begins her emotive vocal delivery, wonderfully countering Crossland’s initial performance.

Of course, once we witnessed the two vocals harmonizing on the refrain, we knew that we had to feature “Earth to Us” on the blog. There’s some authentic songwriting magic occurring here, and listeners will find it very easy to feel as though the narrative is unfolding in real time, each time that they listen.

As the song crescendos, both vocals remain as more elements arrive like a giant wave of human emotion. From Crossland’s upper register to the more ethereal layers of aux vocals, it will be difficult to decide which element you love more, but rest assured that you will be more than welcome to come back for multiple listens.

We’ve truly enjoyed getting to know Crossland’s craft with each new release, and we hope that you will carve out three minutes of your day in order to experience “Earth to Us.” Connect with Alex Crossland: Instagram | Spotify
