LA-based Wolftrap have released the captivating indie folk song, “little house in the woods,” a track that dreamily explores the age-old question of what the future holds for lovers.

The song begins with delicate acoustic fingerpicking that weaves hypnotic tones. Warm bass provides a deep foundation as it soothingly pads the song and a stripped-back drum groove gives a sense of light forward motion. “little house in the woods“ is given a sense of tranquil melancholy though the use of a lush soundscape– noises rise like waves and wale tenderly whilst reverb melts them into the arrangement, heightening the track’s emotional impact.

The song also has a gorgeous ebb and flow, as the verses radiate a sense of gentle warmth, creating a sense of intimacy. A satisfying increase in dynamics hits over the chorus sections as the arrangement’s elements become dreamily submerged into the reverb. This thoughtful contrast creates a sense of epic and peaceful grandeur. The icing on the cake for this love song is the exquisite utilization of vocal harmonies. Intimate, gentle, and, in places, breathy, they compel you to explore the song’s narrative in the thoughtfully written lyrics.

As the song draws to a close, backing vocals sing “oohs” while musical elements gently ripple melodic lines. The drum groove grows subtly more complex– all of these elements combine to heighten the track’s wistful qualities. “little house in the woods,” by Wolftrap, is a stunning indie folk track. The song is full of dreamy vocal layers and gorgeous melting tones that you can’t help but get lost in. This is the first single off their upcoming EP, The Good Side.
