Bad Flamingo - “White T Shirt“

For the seventh time in the history of the universe, the mysterious songstress duo known as Bad Flamingo appear on our blog. This time, they’ve come packing a moody, cinematic production known as “White T Shirt.”

They don’t waste any of the track’s two-minutes and-forty-one seconds of runtime, beginning immediately with some softly plucked acoustic guitar and a dose of those mystifying, signature vocals. If you’ve ever pressed play on one of their songs, it is immediately apparent that this a Bad Flamingo tune.

At first, “White T Shirt” comes across as an extremely raw, stripped-back folk song, with very little occurring as far as effects or additional elements. But that soon changes upon the arrival of the hook, with a coat of reverb and background vocals that cause the sound to rise and swell, with a deep bass to round out the atmosphere.

They’ve opted for some ghostly harmonica in this one, which provides that authentic, western-rooted vibe that always keeps us coming back to them for more. As per usual, there is ear candy aplenty, offering some glimpses of lead guitar as well as some scattered percussive elements, which includes a reasonably heavy-hitting kick drum.

Before the final chorus, a dynamic break falls into place, complete with layers of vocals and brief appearances from what we believe to be a banjo and piano, but they’re gone just as quickly as they arrive. And with that, “White T Shirt” rears its head in order to reveal its full-flavored finale in the form of a robust hook for all to behold.

We still have no clue who they are or where they’re from, but as long as Bad Flamingo keep sending us music like “White T Shirt,” we shall refrain from hiring a posse to track them down.
