Tiberius - “Sitting”
Boston-based, non-binary-led group Tiberius are back on the blog with “Sitting,” the latest single from their new LP, Troubadour.
Make no mistake, “Sitting” is a delicious spoonful of indie rock, but it also comes packed with a generous portion of folksy goodness. The outset enters the ears with a raw vocal performance accompanied by a lone, chugging electric guitar, wonderfully building tension over the course of the first verse. All at once, the rest of the band arrives with a vibe akin to Pinegrove and/ or Courtney Barnett, casting a nostalgic net across the listener.
If you’ve not yet heard any tracks from Tiberius, “Sitting” is a wonderful place to begin, as it showcases the band’s vast array of dynamic musicianship. Above the pulse instilled by the unyielding rhythm section, multiple guitars weave a sonic web that spans the stereo spread. And it is here that a reverberating slide guitar sweeps us away on a sweet cloud of prodigious sound.
“Sitting” remains in this dreamlike state of production for most of its duration, which makes it perfect for those weekend roadtrips to nowhere. And although the four-and-a-half minute runtime is much too long for commercial radio play, we wouldn’t be surprised if the track found a permanent position in all of your favorite playlists.
“Sitting“ and the rest of Troubadour is now available everywhere via Audio Antihero (Frog / Avery Friedman / CIAO MALZ / Magana / Josaleigh Pollett). Connect with Tiberius here: Linktree | Website | Instagram | Twitter | Facebook | Threads | TikTok
