The Burgler - “Hollywood”

Ori Kastiel, aka The Burgler, is a producer, songwriter, vocalist, and bassist from Eilat, Israel. His latest release, “Hollywood,” is a style of music that we do not typically feature on the blog, but with lyrics like, “I wanna die in Hollywood, so I can live forever,” we simply could not resist…

Hollywood” is, at its heart, a pop song, opening up with a tasty little guitar lick that will go on to become part of the track’s fundamental foundation. The bass line in this thing is completely on point and the only obvious electronic elements that we’re hearing are the drums, which are programmed very tastefully and not overbearing in any sort of way, though they would certainly fill any dance floor.

Unlike many indie pop songs that we receive, “Hollywood” has very little, if any, autotune, which has the tendency to rip any emotion right out of a vocal performance. But here, the vocals are vibey and the lyrics are enjoyable, wonderfully driven home through various layers of doubles and harmonies– a practice that we wish more artists would take advantage of– especially in this day and age, when the number of tracks on a song is limitless and another layer of vocals is simply a click away.

All in all, if you’re looking for an upbeat song with a sweet groove and thoughtful lyrics, you really should give “Hollywood” a listen.
