Tempesst - “Rags of Love”

Coming at your ears from East London, Tempesst have revealed their newest single, “Rags of Love,” a track that “chronicles the near demise and ultimate resurrection of a relationship.”

Fans of the dark and twangy sounds of Lord Huron will be delighted as soon as they hit play on this one. That was the first thing that drew our ears to “Rags of Love” and, upon a closer examination of the Tempesst repertoire, we were quite surprised that this is the first time we’re hearing from them, considering that they’ve been releasing music since 2015.

“Rags of Love” is expertly crafted and recorded, with a production value that lends the idea that it was not cheap to make (or maybe they’re just really, really good at what they do). Given the emotional subject matter, the music effectively follows suit, with a lead guitar in the background that offers waves of that juicy reverb we’re always going on and on about. Though they opted for a horn solo, there are some slight remnants of early Oasis in here as well. All of it is held together with a tambourine, beneath the fantastic vocals that, at times, cause the most careful of listeners to recall the work of Leonard Cohen.

All of these sonic ingredients end up creating a fantastic musical feast and anyone who hears is bound to find themselves sifting through every song in Tempesst’s back catalogue, just as we’ve been doing since we first heard “Rags of Love.” There is also a video, which you should play immediately:

And, of course, we will not deny you the link to their Spotify:
