Summer Salt - “Poolside”

Austin, TX-based Summer Salt have coasted into our stack submissions via the retro-tinged, surf-rocking sounds of “Poolside,” their latest single to get your soul psyched for warmer weather.

A delicious full-band arrangement brings this song to life, complete with the classic swagger of the early ‘60s. An upbeat rhythm section provides the toe-tapping warmth of yesteryear, while the shimmering and reverberating chords from an electric guitar deliver a layer of nostalgic magic across the top.

Rounding out this enchanting number is a delightful vocal duet, consisting of omnipresent low and high harmonies. The voices glide into your ears like a cool, gentle breeze in mid-July, with swelling moments of background layers stretching the mix to the outer edges of the sonic space.

Poolside” does not pretend to be anything more than a surf-imbued pop song, which is especially pleasing to hear in the modern era, when it would be so easy to oversaturate it with synth and midi. The vibe is of the chill variety and the song aurally demands that you include it in the soundtrack to all of your future summer memories.

About “Poolside,” Summer Salt adds: “It is a song about love and being emotionally available and reliable in a relationship Reassurance that you’re there for each other at the end of each day. This song was inspired by sunny days spent by the pool, date nights on rooftops under the stars, and the drive to always win together in any situation, regardless of what others think.”

The track comes ahead of Summer Salt’s forthcoming LP, Electrolytes, which was produced by Carlos de la Garza (Paramore, Cherry Glazerr, Cold War Kids). While we all await the record’s release, connect with Summer Salt across the internet: Instagram | Soundcloud | Spotify | Bandcamp | Facebook
