Speelburg - “Complicated People”

Belgian-American musician Speelburg has just released “Complicated People,” the lead track off the new album, Silver Medal Slump. The track beautifully explores the push and pull of relationships, with vibrantly infectious, disco-tinged dance grooves.

Complicated People” overflows with danceable energy, thanks to the groove of the drums that propel the track forward. The almost unwavering beat is crisp and punchy as it solidly anchors the track to the dancefloor. The use of lush, syncopated layers over key areas makes sure the hypnotic attack of the pulse is kept thoroughly engaging.

Gluing the groove together is a deep, thick bass line that would have legendary funk musician Bootsy Collins nodding with approval. The rich tones are a constant presence across the composition, guiding the listener slickly with a sense of undeniable swagger. Speelburg has really put in some hard work with these elements, as it exquisitely allows the other musical elements and vocal to thrive.

Dressing the groove is a myriad of colourful, shifting layers that pulsate, weave, or burst delightfully. Whether it is the shimmering splashes of electric guitar or glowing layers of synths, you are immersed relentlessly in a torrent of joyous ear candy. Vocally, Speelburg serves up a classic signature performance that is strikingly playful, soulful, and wistful. The delivery soars melodically and harmoniously, cementing the delectable, ear-worm vibes.

Complicated People” is another outstanding offering by the talented Speelburg. The strikingly animated track is full of danceable spirit, making this the perfect addition to any indie pop lover’s playlist.
