Speelburg - “Talk Me Down”

Los Angeles-based tour de force Speelburg has supplied the world with another incredible earworm of a track with the indie pop “Talk Me Down.”

Talk Me Down” is essentially a modern disco number, thanks to the classic drum arrangement at the heart of this track. It instantly beckons you to move and oozes a plethora of good vibes. Underneath, the groove of the track is cemented by an almost Tame Impala-esque bass line. It has a warm presence in the mid-ranges and is incredibly slick.

Synth layers are used superbly in order to airily pad the track, add rich splashes of ear candy, or to give glittering, warbling layers of vintage texture. The shifting layers have the odd sound that reminds me of The Chemical Brothers, followed by another sounds that are reminiscent of Pink Floyd. The layers are a delight as they wash over you.

The breezy vocal performance of Speelburg flows wonderfully through the music. The vibes are upbeat and playful, which strikingly contrast the lyrics that are tinged with a morbid darkness.

On “Talk Me Down,” Speelburg appears as though he is exercising his wonderful magpie-like palate, collecting loads of awesome sounds, which he then pushes through a magical kaleidoscope to create something breathtakingly unique. Every song he makes is a banger, so make sure you check out this one.
