Henny Herz - “The Reader”

Canada and Germany-based artist Henny Herz takes us on a healing journey with the sublime new indie folk track, “The Reader,” a beautifully heartfelt track that is abundant with mellow, intimate vibes. Founded on a gentle and soothing arpeggiating acoustic guitar, you are relaxingly immersed within a serene and tranquil atmosphere.

For the duration of the song, the mood remains peacefully melodic, creating a lullaby-like ambiance. Only a few layers are carefully applied to enrich the track. Elegant layers of strings soothingly drift into the track, exquisitely heightening the meditative mood. In places, animated, pizzicato string plucks create a playful complexity to the rhythm. Cementing the calmness is the slow, velvety pulse of a double bass and touches of bird song.

The vocal of Henny Herz is strikingly gentle, intimate, and incredibly enchanting. The tones are sweet and soothingly expressive. The poetic lyrics are presented with a measured cadence, giving “The Reader” a delightful sense of grace.

Henny Herz adds: “The world of books is intertwined with the world of dreams and often one merges with the other when we immerse ourselves in a story before going to bed. As a child, we were read to by the soothing voice of dad or mom before the goodnight kiss and “The Reader” wants to remind us of this feeling, a tribute to reading aloud and the comforting security of whispered words.”

The Reader” is beautifully performed and orchestrated, creating a peaceful and serene listening experience. The track truly captures the essence of a lullaby. This is the second single from Herz’s forthcoming album, We All Heal At Night.
