Glasgow, Scotland-based singer-songwriter Pippa Blundell arrives on our blog with the gentle, folk-infused sway of “crave,” a track that delves into the impact of overindulgence.

After a quick lick from the retro-toned lead guitar, “crave” bursts into a full-band arrangement, including a country-tinged rhythm section and additional layers of dreamy guitars. The track permeates just enough melancholic fervor to nail our niche for the genre, and we find ourselves completely hooked at merely ten seconds deep.

Blundell’s vocal performance is truly stellar in its delivery– raw and seemingly effortless as she spoon-feeds us lyrical lines that display a fragile vulnerability and authentic humanness. Many of us have been there, lost in the melodramatic remnants of a self-inflicted hangover. On the refrain, the tempo slows to reveal Blundell’s unforgettable falsetto, which will be one of the reasons you return to “crave” for multiple spins.

About the song, Blundell adds: “This is the story of the morning after the night before... through a heavy period of partying too much, I experienced sleep paralysis. Unable to completely fall asleep whilst my body was paralysed in a fever state but my mind was awake. It was terrifying but I had to succumb to this peace and find this place of acceptance.”
