Orions Belte - “Silhouettes”

Norwegian trio Orions Belte have just released “Silhouettes” and it is a musical journey full of unexpected twists. The song opens with a captivating bass line that relentlessly riffs all the way through the song. The dreamy and muffled vocals add to the relaxed sound, creating an almost cinematic atmosphere. As the song progresses, the instrumental parts of strings and keys begin to crescendo, building up to loud and raw guitar riffs. The riffs have a feeling of familiarity about them, but I can’t quite place it… I want to say “Roobarb and Custard,” but I am wide off the mark with that comparison.

The contrast between the different elements in the song is what makes it so interesting: breaking back down to the gentle sounds of strings and lap steel guitar, that funky bass line (definitely the star of the show) and strings before bursting into heavy guitar riffs. As the song gets closer to the end, the string sections start to become more and more disorganized, creating a trippy soundscape.

Silhouettes” is an impressive piece of music that is full of surprises and contrasts, making it an exciting and enjoyable listen from start to finish. If you’re a fan of psychedelic rock, then this song is definitely worth checking out.
