A new single from Stinkus…

From the USA, Stinkus paints a vivid picture of complicated obsession and vulnerability with the breezy, downtempo track, “only when it comes to you, i guess.” Lush in melody, flowing in dreamy, windswept lo-fi guitars, this tune is a genuine pleasure to listen to.

Rich in 1990s downtempo vibes, the music brings to mind early Beck without the hipster swagger, the melancholy of Grandaddy and the introspectiveness of Eels… or catching the musical interludes on Beavis and Butt-Head post watershed (safe harbor hours for the Americans in the audience) on MTV. The song drifts effortlessly over a subdued, slow grooving drum beat. The kind that makes you want to slowly bop your head along whilst the guitars wrap around you, pulling you into something beautifully reflective.

Although Stinkus serves up an intimate, understated, almost melancholic murmur of a vocal the track feels quietly anthemic. The choral layers and harmonies add a rich, beautiful depth and emotion. Wistful, reflective and slightly bittersweet, and with the odd spoken word sample thrown in, the track feels deeply personal and atmospheric. Heartfelt and quietly anthemic, “only when it comes to you, i guess” is taken from the album I love you, trackstar slated for release November 21st.
