Moxy the Band

People, we care about you. As we enter the holiday season, many of us will likely eat more pie and cookies than we’ve eaten all year. When you combine that with our sedentary lifestyles, thanks, in part, to the technology of the modern day, this can lead to those trousers no longer fitting properly. In many cases, there is absolutely nothing wrong with putting on some holiday pounds, but it is important that we all keep moving in order to reduce the risk of heart disease, as well as avoid being swept into the abyss of seasonal depression.

For this reason, we at UpToHear are providing the following to help you get up and get moving because endorphins are the most magical of medicines.

And for this, we have the very fine, indie-pop sounds of Moxy the Band, consisting of songwriter and diva Amber DeLaRosa (Flourish, Amber DeLaRosa), composer Michael Franzino (A Lot Like Birds, Sianvar), and producer/engineer Dryw Owens. If you’ve been reading our blog, you might note that their latest single, “The Feeling of Letting Go,” is not something that we would generally feature. However, over the past few weeks, we’ve been trying to break free from the confines of our wheelhouse and cover music that we know is good, without necessarily understanding why– and we know that this song is good. In fact, it is fantastic.

“The Feeling of Letting Go” has a distinct throwback to the vibrant sounds of the 1980s, while also maintaining the modern energy of bands like The 1975 and CHVRCHES. DeLaRosa’s vocals are completely on point, with first-rate production and none of that annoying, over-the-top pitch correction that, at times, seems to dominate the genre. The driving force of the instrumentation is also done so with perfection and it all sounds like the product of a major recording studio and on par or slightly better than anything we’ve heard on the radio as of late. While the accompanying video is a parody, this group is deeply rooted in the Sacramento area, so they know exactly what it takes to get your body ready for that California-like weather!

You can also purchase this song so that you might listen wherever you are, and in case the workout video is not readily available:

The Feeling of Letting Go” comes from the recently released LP, Dream Feeling, which is available everywhere, including Spotify:
