Margaux Regan - “Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You”

London-based singer-songwriter Margaux Regan has just revealed her debut– a folksy lullaby by the name of “Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You.”

The song begins as though Regan has opened up a guitar case to perform her song right in front of you. Straight out of the gate, “Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You” delivers a raw and intimate production, one of which will pull listeners directly into the heart of the recording. At the song’s center, there lies the message that, despite all the turmoil, life is actually worth the energy it takes to live it.

As the track progresses, the arrangement expands to include some deep and rich tones from the bass, as well as some ‘80s-tinged notes from a lead guitar. After the first refrain, a gentle rhythm is deployed, at first pulsating with a simple kick drum, then spreading out to shine a spotlight on the entire kit.

At the heart of the production, Regan’s powerful vocal performance is the shining star of “Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You,” from the main lines of her delivery to the swells of auxiliary textures. Before the final throw of the hook, most of the elements are removed to give us a vulnerable break, adding a loving spoonful of ebb and flow to the record.

When describing “Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You,” Regan adds: “I wanted it to be country and have a catchy chorus but also have the emotional aspect… It's about offering comfort to others who might be struggling, using music as a way to say ‘you're going to be okay.’” Connect with Margaux Regan here: Instagram | Spotify | TikTok
