Elsdeer - “Ozark”

From Germany, Elsdeer return to the blog with their latest single, “Ozark,” a folk-lined slice of raw indie rock.

The gentle and lo-fi strums of acoustic guitar get “Ozark” started, effectively imbuing the track with an exquisitely intimate vibe. The track has been intentionally endowed with a warbling tape effect, highlighted in the ghostly and ethereal ambience that permeates throughout the background.

As “Ozark” begins to climb into its gradual crescendo, the vocal performance emerges, feeding our ears with the gift of mellifluous bliss– a quality to which we’ve become quite accustomed when it comes to the craft of Elsdeer. Thusly, fans of Samantha Crain and Big Thief should have absolutely no problem adding this tune to their list of eternal favorites.

As the track progresses, new instruments arrive, first with some notes from an electric guitar, then followed up by the rhythm section, which grants “Ozark” with its indie rock edginess. The muted notes from a banjo accentuate the space between the lyrical content, eventually making room for a dynamic break before the song’s powerful conclusion.

Ozark” is now available everywhere you get your music and it is, hopefully, indicative of more new tunes on the way from Elsdeer. In the meantime, we hope that you dig this one as much as we do. Connect with Elsdeer here: Instagram | Facebook | Spotify | Bandcamp
