Singer-songwriter Josaleigh Pollett, from Salt Lake City, USA, returns to the blog with the deeply textured folktronica track “Like a River.”
“Like a River” is a song that is difficult to pin down. It feels more like a mood piece than a traditional track. Suspended between dream and memory, the track floats through a twilight state of reflection and longing, evoking the sensation of being half-awake, drifting through fragmented memories, lying in bed at 3 a.m. staring at the ceiling, or watching a sunrise after a euphoric night out. Hoping for the peace of a quiet river bank, only to remember that a river is swift, chaotic, and ever-changing the earth beneath it. Inspired by Paul Simon’s Peace Like a River- a song I’ve always held in my heart as a beautiful protest song.”
