Bad Flamingo - “Fiddle”

For those of you who have never listened to the mysterious and seductive sounds of the duo known as Bad Flamingo, you should consider yourselves lucky. As we warned in our last post, their songwriting borders on witchcraft and it will draw you in– almost as quickly as it chews you up and spits you out. It is an endless cycle and, speaking from personal experience, one that is likely to send you straight into therapy.

And just when we had nearly recovered from “I Won’t Let You Die Young,” these masked soul-vultures go and hit us with a new one: “Fiddle.” We have no proof of this, but we believe that they wear these disguises because they are actually our therapists. And what a racket– to lure us in with sonic enchantment, then bill us weekly, all while practically mocking their listeners, first by promising not to let us die young, then by playing us like fiddles…

Ye who are reluctant to press play on this number, let us caution you that it begins quite innocently, with just the pleasant sounds of a guitar and vocals that almost seem sympathetic to one’s emotional state. This is how they get you! There’s a reason they call it a “hook,” people… And once this one finds its way beneath your skin, you will join the countless others who are forever lost in the purgatory of their sound!
