Ellur - “Boys”

A little bit Killers, a little bit Florence Welch, Ellur’s new track, “Boys,” is just more evidence that she is definitely one to watch.

To be perfectly honest, we knew there was something special in her craft the moment we caught the live performance of “Now I’m Alone,” a dark and emotional, piano-driven ballad that we highly recommend getting into your ears asap. With “Boys,” it is very clear that her songwriting knows no bounds, as it boasts a highly infectious rhythm that is sure to induce spontaneous dance parties throughout the world.

The subject matter stems from “some very hard-hitting feelings about some very real situations” that revolve around the dismissive, toxic idea that “boys will be boys.” Ellur has taken life experience and spun it into a celebration of sound; from the mellifluous delivery of the verses, to the anthemic resonance of the refrain, “Boys” nails every last prerequisite for international airplay.

Ellur did not need to pitch us this track in order to appear on our blog; we are simply fans and with each release, we feel that she gets one step closer to fulfilling her musical destiny. We are confident that once you press play on “Boys,” you will not hear an indie artist struggling to increase their streams, but an act on the path to becoming a household name.
