Ellur - “Anywhere”

The last time we heard from Ellur was back in November, when she blew our minds with her stripped-back single, “Now I’m Alone.” Today, we welcome her back on the blog with “Anywhere,” a captivating and danceable morsel of the indie rock variety.

This one begins with some swirling synth, already letting us know that she’s stepped away from the piano long enough to throw down a sound that is much more comprehensive. A few seconds later, the production bursts to life with an energetic beat and a suite of ear candy, immediately hitting us with lyrics that describe the feelings that tend to linger after a relationship has ended.

If you’ve ever heard this woman sing, you’ll already know that you’re in for quite a passionate performance. And it is for this reason alone that we knew we were going to feature “Anywhere” before we even had a chance to press the play button. Fans of Florence + The Machine, St. Vincent, and/ or Chrissie Hynde are bound to feel instantly at home with this one, as Ellur manages to hit all of those carefully calculated notes.

If its triumphant sound is not enough to completely enthrall you, prepare to get lost inside of the relatable lyrics. Ellur sings a truth that many people have experienced, yet few are brave enough to explore. We only hope that we don’t have to wait another six months for her next release. For now, enjoy “Anywhere:”

If you’re in the UK, be sure to catch Ellur in person:
