Dipsea Flower - “Hummingbird”

Gather ‘round and have a listen to the glorious, vintage vibes of Dipsea Flower and his new track, “Hummingbird.” This is the solo project of California-born, Boston-based singer-songwriter Ari Rosenberg and the tune will grab you by the spirit as soon as you press the play button.

Hummingbird” promptly opens with a full-scale arrangement, including a slow and retro beat and the soaring sounds of an organ. Acoustic guitar and bass are also present, filling the sonic space with an authentic thickness that is present on many recordings from the late ‘70s, though not as prominent in today’s music, which, as far as we’re concerned, is one of the greatest tragedies brought forth by digital production.

Upon hearing the angelic backing vocals, it was all over for us– we were completely hooked on “Hummingbird” and its cinematic, Americana sound. And once Rosenberg begins delivering the first verse, listeners will be instantly enchanted via an overwhelming sense of nostalgia, as his voice is full of a character that your ears will immediately trust. On the refrain, he soars into his falsetto, ensuring that everyone returns for multiple listens.

The song’s structure is quite simple, but the way that it has been produced brings a lush and robust quality of sound that is unmatched. “Hummingbird” is one hell of a way to debut the craft of Dipsea Flower and we simply cannot wait to hear more from his upcoming EP, Western Winds. And once you’ve pressed play, you will wholeheartedly agree.

For fans of The Lumineers, Houndmouth, and Mt. Joy.
