Luke De-Sciscio - “I Had A Boat”

Can a song be haunting and comforting at the same time? After listening to this song, I think you may agree with me that it’s not just possible, it has happened. “I Had A Boat,” by Luke De-Sciscio, is an immaculate example of emotional depth and sonic beauty. Soothing guitar rolls along as the most engaging of voices pulls at your heart, tugging with the perfect blend of apprehension and candor as it slides in and out of a majestic falsetto. There is so much depth and richness in the mix, as evidenced by how the brushed snare hovers perfectly in the middle of the soundstage. Further back, a subtle little additions of electric guitar speaks in a sparse arpeggio and there is a far-away screeching sound that heightens the mood, perceptible most to the hair on my arms.

This song is giving me the chills. “I had a boat, but it’s gone” repeats throughout, justifying the haunted feeling that I have. And yet, I don’t want to shy away from this. I want to press play again. Could it be the hypnotic 3/4 time that is played beautifully? Ah, perhaps it’s the exquisite phrasing in the vocal. I’m not sure, but it’s definitely a great tune. This song is so ready for synch deals. I imagine this playing in a critical moment in a gripping theatrical show… If I didn’t know the title, I would have to Shazam it. It’s so good. Prepare yourself and press play.

“I Had A Boat” comes from Luke De-Sciscio’s new album, If one thing were different, nothing would be the same, now available everywhere:
