Confreres - “Surgery”

Chattanooga, Tennessee-based rockers Confreres have just released a delicious morsel of indie rock called “Surgery.”

A few quick strums from an acoustic guitar ignite this tune, which soon expands into a full-band production. The mood is dark and vintage-imbued, reminiscent of all your favorite Lord Huron tunes. And although it is just a touch more upbeat, there is simply no denying the tone of that vibey guitar as it carves a path through the arrangement.

This makes room for the vocals to permeate a hefty dose of vintage-tinged zing and, again, deliver a magnificent nod to the stylings of Ben Schneider. “Surgery” manifests a charmingly vintage fervor, due in part to the compression applied to the bass and drums, masterfully warming the track’s underbelly. In fact, we are not sure which element we favor more, as every aspect is completely divine.

The vocal melody on the refrain dances delicately into the upper register, likely causing you to return to it for multiple listens. This song begs to be heard live, so join us in anxiously awaiting a tour announcement. Until then, be sure to give “Surgery” all of the attention that it deserves.
