Extra Space - “Pace”

Brooklyn-based indie rockers Joey Puleio and Chris Kyle, aka Extra Space, arrive on our blog with “Pace,” a lo-fi and refreshing serving of songwriting that demands the attention of all who hear.

A pulsating rhythm establishes the foundation of this tune, comprised of rich and organic drums and a bass line that brings a deep and soulful groove. These sounds offer superb support for the gritty guitar to explore the melody, while ethereal layers emerge, providing a dose of ear candy and successfully widening the sonic space.

Although the production is topnotch, “Pace” veers far from any mainstream niche, which shall surely appeal to many music lovers who have grown tired of the monotony found in modern radio. It’s easy to discern from the occasional wave of distortion that these guys know exactly how to cook a rock song, but, instead, have opted to deliver a chance to lose yourself.

The vocals are quite dreamy, relying heavily upon a melodic delivery that should sit rather nicely among fans of Real Estate, Deerhunter, or even Built To Spill. And although “Pace” is only our first glimpse into their sound, we foresee many future opportunities to feature the music of Extra Space on our site.
