Amen Sioux - “Useless”

Amen Sioux‘s latest single, “Useless,” is a contagious indie pop song. It will have you bopping your head to its catchy melodies and shimmering guitar riffs and synths.

The song’s production is slick, from the opening synths to the funky bass line and bouncing percussion. “Useless is padded by dreamy keys and is complemented by the carefully used guitar work, which also gives the already powerful arrangement a layer of shimmering beauty. The chorus sections of the song are based around a tremendously catchy bass hook, which lends the track a fantastic feel. It is definitely an earworm.

The song’s ending has a change in mood and rhythm that gives the tune a darker tone, along with a piano solo that offers a more serious grounding. With a layer of distortion applied, the vocals on “Useless” have a slightly edgy tone that perfectly conveys the inner anguish of the song’s subject matter.

The lyrics convey Amen Sioux’s personal experiences with a difficult relationship and the emotions that went along with that time in his life. The song shifts between relief, regret, longing, and contempt as it illustrates the turmoil of heartbreak.

Overall, “Useless” is a masterfully composed indie pop anthem that will hook you at first listen.
