Sweet Imperfections - “Be Here”

With a shimmering guitar and some softly keyed piano, Sweet Imperfections’ “Be Here” sets the mood right out of the gate. And, for a moment, it leaves us here, suspended above the sound, until the rhythm section brings in the vocal stylings of Bri Schillings. And people, once you hear this woman’s voice, you will immediately understand why we had to feature this song on the blog. They are everything. And by everything, we mean that they embody an entire musical catalog, from the Stevie Nicks you grew up with to the Lana Del Ray that you relish today. They are sultry, jazzy, and full of pure emotion.

And the truly fantastic thing here is that, if it’s your first time listening to “Be Here,” you haven’t heard anything yet. Because, yes, this melody during the verse will lead you far away from all of your troubles and cause you to imagine a life that doesn’t involve punching a clock… But just wait until that glorious chorus, as Schillings lifts you up into the sheer brilliance of her falsettos. It is a truly magnificent performance, set atop a tremendous, vintage sounding instrumental that is sure to make you take a walk down memory lane while, at the same time, act as a reminder that there is still so much happiness to be discovered in the music of today.

To prove to you that “Be Here” is not some sort of fluke, we would also like to invite you to listen to the moody and empowering love song, “Step Into Love,” released a just few weeks back. With a pulsating rhythm and vocals like honey, its verses will warmly embrace your ears, while the refrains will invite you to “step out of shame and into love.” With a tastefully played guitar lead and a dynamic breakdown, this song is bound to reach inside of you and stir up some forgotten emotions, especially once you hear the vocal harmony at the end.
