Shannon Netemeyer - “You’ve Been Gone A While Now”

Chicago-based artist Shannon Netemeyer has just released the effortlessly gorgeous indie pop song, “You’ve Been Gone A While Now.”

The song starts with atmospheric noises that shimmer beautifully, then gains a steady drum groove that sets the pace for the rest of the track. Synths pulse and arpeggiate warm melodic lines throughout, slightly playing with dissonant sounds within some of the chord changes. Vocal loops also help to pad the song with the synths. A pulsing bass underneath “You’ve Been Gone A While Now forms a driving foundation to the production.

The song has some really great dynamic breaks that show off the wonderfully performed backing vocals and mix elements in this song. After each break, the song grows in size, giving it a real sense of depth and power. The vocal glides effortlessly over the wonderful soundscape created by the synths, and support from the backing vocals broaden the sound and create a fantastic and robust listening experience.

About the track, Netemeyer says: “This is the first single of my debut album, single release set for May 12, 2023! Originally from small town southern Illinois, I am an artist based out of Chicago. During the lockdown, I wrote and produced demos for this LP (entitled Feed Me To The Trees), found some incredible artists to work with and bring the project to the next level, and now we are ready to release!”
