WRKHOUSE - “Getaway”

North Wales-based WRKHOUSE have just released the captivating indie pop rock track, “Getaway.”

Getaway” is founded around a mesmerising, almost hypnotic kick snare drum groove. As it steadily pulsates, the song is given an irresistible sense of forward momentum and energy. In key areas, a hi-hat groove is introduced, weaving an addictive sense of sway.

The song is incredibly stripped back, yet it builds dynamically, creating a feeling of growing tension. This energy is spectacularly released over the chorus sections with the introduction of electric guitar. Coupled with the drums, there is a sense of thumping, driving momentum. The chorus hits hard with satisfying intensity.

Woven throughout “Getaway” are various synths that help fill out the trance-inducing groove. These layers provide various textures from mellow pads and arpeggiating, pulsing sounds to moody and dark sound scaping. The synths consolidate the immersive vibes of the track exquisitely.

The vocal performance has a breathy, soulful, and passionate delivery. It gives the song a healthy indie pop vibe, yet it feels authentic, never drifting into the abyss of commercialism. Subtle backing harmonies also delightfully set the performance alight.

Of the single, WRKHOUSE adds: “We began writing ‘Getaway’ with Steffan Pringle (Estrons, Adwaith) at Mwnci Studios in West Wales, back in the first half of 2021. When we turned up, it was a 30-second demo, and wasn’t a priority for us at all (none of the songs on the EP were!), but we were all encouraged by Steff to get it finished that week. After that it became a blueprint for the sound of the project moving forward.”

Getaway” by WRKHOUSE is a solid indie pop rock track that is built on one hell of a hypnotic beat. We encourage you to press that play button asap.
