Keyside - “Turn Back The Time”

Liverpool band Keyside have just released the epic indie rock track “Turn Back The Time.” This slow tempo number is a swirl of lush, haunting melodies that are allowed to soothingly float over the minimalist arrangement.

Turn Back The Time” is built around ethereal lead electric guitar that is invigoratingly glazed in reverb. The electric guitar not only acts as the basis of the track’s melody, but also enhances the contemplative and wistful atmospherics. The vibes of the melody are, in some ways, reminiscent of “No Surprises” by Radiohead. Propelling the track forward is a slow swaying drum groove, whilst acoustic guitar imparts a feeling of nostalgic warmth. The track is epic, but also spacious, allowing the poignant lyrics and emotive vocals to really breathe.

The lead vocal is soulful and rich, which is enhanced by reverb and delay. The performance imparts a striking authenticity to the melancholic-tinged lyrics, which explore the loss of youth and innocence. Lead singer Dan Parker explains about the song’s coming-of-age subject matter: “We don’t get time back, but we learn from it.”

Keyside have once again knocked it out of the park with “Turn Back The Time.” The emotive vocals and melodies more than demonstrate that this is a band to watch.
