Will Pope - “Rehash”

Will Pope is one of those artists that you kick yourself for not finding sooner. To have been there, in 2021, when he released Burying Giants and its eight delightful tracks, and then to be able to look forward to the followup single, “Rehash,” instead of having to start this blog and wait, like a fool, for artists like Will to submit their tracks. But I digress…

Will Pope’s “Rehash” starts exactly the way the universe intended: beautifully, with a ghostly choral harmony before finally making way for an acoustic guitar– the kind of playing that makes you wish you picked up your guitar more often, instead of writing blog posts about people who play at a level you will never reach… But what that gently finger-picked intro doesn’t prepare you for is Will’s sweet and tender vocal, ever so slightly reminiscent of Vance Joy, and soaring in its bareness. You will not find any autotune here. They did not make pitch correction software for people like Will. All you will find in here is raw emotion that is delivered in a package of a stripped back and ethereal instrumental. This is the kind of song that deserves the ears of the world– and you will understand that as soon as you press play.

Don’t have Spotify? That’s okay. Here’s some YouTube action:

Now that you’ve fallen in love with his craft, go back and check out “Stormy Seas.”
