Tom A. Smith - “Fashion”
Tom A. Smith, from Sunderland, UK, blows us away with the spirited dance punk track, “Fashion.”
Right from the very first notes of “Fashion,” you can tell the track is the type of thumping banger that is designed to cater for the sweaty heart of a late-night dancefloor or mosh pit. It is rough around the edges, buzzing and relentless as it effortlessly mixes dance punk with indie rock.
When actively listening to the arrangement it is elegantly stripped back. Only jaggered electric guitars and a pixelated synth bass scrape expressively and slickly around the muscular, mechanical, pulsing drum beat. The song, believe me, literally doesn’t need anything else as you are helplessly swept up in the bounce of the sweet groove.
Tom A. Smith makes sure he is the star of this juggernaut of a track. Shifting colourfully from conversational nuances to untamed sardonic charm, he is simply relentless. Throughout the performance, he seems intent on dragging you head first deeper into the track not caring if you spill your can of Red Stripe (other beverages are available) all over yourself. That’s all before we get to the ear worm lyrical hook that demands bass in the room immediately!
On the track Tom A. Smith adds: “I’m really excited for everyone to hear what we’ve created. It’s become a staple of the live set and points the way to our new sound.” Anyone who doesn’t go absolutely bananas for “Fashion” obviously doesn’t have a pulse. The track is out now via Fiction Records, so go and check it out and add it to your favourite playlist!
