The Kantors - “Inside Joke”

The Kantors’ latest release, “Inside Joke,” is a powerful and poignant, indie rock song that showcases the band’s musicianship and thoughtful songwriting. The track starts with a driving bass line and light string pad sounds. The vocals are superb, with the singer delivering the lyrics with a casual yet commanding and emotive tone. It perfectly captures the frustration in the song’s lyrics. There is a nice use of delays on the vocal and the backing vocals really lift the arrangement over the chorus sections.

The lush thickness provided by the distorted guitars during the chorus adds a great depth to the song. Additionally, the violin provides an elegant melodic line that intertwines perfectly with the other instruments. The violin solo towards the end of the song is a nice touch.

Lyrically, “Inside Joke” is a powerful and unflinching exploration of female frustration and trauma. The lyrics ask difficult questions about the world we live in, while also expressing a sense of anger and determination to fight against injustice. The combination of the lyrics and great instrumental elements make for a truly awesome listening experience. Definitely one to check out.
