The Indien - “Be Yours”

The Indien‘s latest release, “Be Yours,” is a beautifully crafted classic pop song that effortlessly blends retro vibes with contemporary soundscapes. The song is simply lush and features a pulsing rhythm that is reminiscent of Fleetwood Mac’s “Second Hand News.” The drums relentlessly propel the song forward and the bass provides a head-nodding rolling feel underneath. The use of dreamy synth pads and splashes of retro toned guitar adds a wonderful dreamy layer of depth to the track. The song’s use of backwards riser sounds and other subtle touches add an extra layer of retro charm to the track.

However, the highlight of the song is undoubtedly Rianne Walther’s vocals. Her gorgeous and soaring voice is nothing short of superb, with a range of tones and character that perfectly capture the emotions of the song. Her voice makes me want to make comparisons to Brenda Lee, in terms of tone. The lyrics to “Be Yours” explore the uncertainty and confusion that accompanies attempting to maintain a relationship that may be irreparably broken.

Overall, “Be Yours” is a great slice of retro pop music. The song is sonically rich, but it is that vocal that is the show stopper.
