The Amazing - “Antichrist”

Swedish band The Amazing have just released the psych-tinged shoegaze track “Antichrist.” The song is exquisitely meditative, melancholic, and vividly dreamy

Antichrist” is a track where the guitars captivatingly take centre stage. The guitar work is understated but highly melodic, and the interplay between the two electric guitars is to die for. Shimmering cascades of fuzzy, glimmering, and modulating tones endlessly weave, creating a vibrant, sonic richness. Bathed in a thick coating of reverb, we are treated to the sensation of extensive dreamy space.

The other layers of elements complement these weaving textures perfectly. An ethereal pad helps heighten the sense of otherworldly beauty. The drums have a subdued feel as they provide a steady percussive groove, whilst the bass delivers a rich, mellow warmth that successfully glues the arrangement together.

The vocal delivery on “Antichrist” is strikingly meditative in tone as it guides the listener through the composition. The harmonising backing layers that breezily offer support enhance the sense of soul in the performance whilst further enriching the feeling of space.

Antichrist” is a dazzling track that would make the perfect addition to any modern psych or shoegaze lover’s playlist. The song is taken from The Amazing’s new album, Piggies., which is now available everywhere.
