Irish / American duo Steven Eli and Leor Manelis, aka Sun Way Street, return to the blog with the evocative indie folk ballad “I Can’t Give What I’ve Got.”

I Can’t Give What I’ve Got” explores love and relationships with disarming, melancholic sincerity. Its atmospheric folk at its finest, reminiscent of Gregory Alan Isakov in many ways. From the first to the last note, you are immersed into a spacious understated aura. A soundscape that is easy on the ears, yet rich with a depth and vastness.

The song carries you on a graceful, waltzing rhythm of acoustic guitar, drums and lush, resonant piano. Calming, sentimental and hauntingly rousing as the atmospheric strings swell, every element serves the song and the mood. It is a thoroughly enjoyable listening experience that flows with absolute ease.

Weaving through the music is the intimate, hushed vocal that is the definition of melancholic warmth. Its fragile, at times raspy in timbre. Imbuing a beautiful authenticity and emotional weight as it expresses love, fear and emptiness.

Perhaps the greatest strength of “I Can’t Give What I’ve Got” is that it demonstrates the beguiling lyrical style of Sun Way Street. It offers a refreshing blast of philosophical yet understated lyrics. Lyrics that sketch vibrant images, it is poetry set to music.

I Can’t Give What I’ve Got” is a graceful blend of atmospheric folk, intimate vocals and poignant lyrics. The track is taken from the album Ghost Town, which is out now.
