Sumaroo - “No One Likes The Kid”

“No One Likes The Kid” is the lovely new song by Sumaroo and, immediately, it put me into a peaceful, mellow frame of mind. Here are my thoughts about it…

The song’s rhythm is established by an punchy kick drum and snappy snare. There is a lovely acoustic guitar melody that reminds me of sunny days. It leisurely strums away the chords and forms a nice rhythmic pad to the song. The bass provides a pleasing low tone. A brass accompaniment joins him, which, to me, was unexpected. It is a really nice addition and lends the song a particular weight. As soon as I heard it, my arm was twisted into a review.

Sumaroo's voice is fantastic, beautifully delivering the lyrics as they build to the chorus, “No One Likes The Kid,” which is joined by background voices that really raise the line into the air and give it the impression that it is being sung by a large group of people. It is like a gentle anthem line.

The song has some pretty wonderful instrumentation, such as guitar and keys that slide down an octave, a tambourine that gives the song some great movement… and the “ahs” at the end. This is a good little single and I am pleased to share it here.
