Smokey Brights - “Broken Too”

Coming to us from Seattle, WA, Smokey Brights is an indie rock band fronted by husband and wife duo Kim West and Ryan Devlin. They recently released a new track, “Broken Too,” and we’d like to take some time to tell you about how awesome it is.

They’ve classified “Broken Too” under the psychedelic umbrella, and once the muffled and distant beat opens up the track, you’ll understand this quite vividly. But it isn’t long before that glorious guitar joins in, letting you know that they’ve brought a bit more to the musical table. This is all followed shortly by Devlin’s delicate tenor, delivering lyrics about “the power of human connection in a broken world,” and breaking into his falsetto just as West’s harmony embraces it. We’ve said it before, but it bears repeating: there is simply nothing like the perfect marriage of a well-executed male + female vocal harmony. The song then goes into a dynamic break before crescendoing into a fantastic and moody conclusion. “Broken Too” is exactly what raw emotion should sound like and you’ll thank us once it hits your ears.

This is the title track from Smokey Brights’ brand new EP, which is available everywhere that you listen to your music.
