Amistat - “Falling”

Twin brothers Josef and Jan Prasil are Amistat and they have just completely blown me away with their new single, “Falling.” This track is a stunning song that showcases the talents of the two brothers and their tender vocal harmonies. The fingerpicking on the acoustic guitar sets the tone perfectly and immediately draws in the listener. The brothers sing in different registers, creating a rich tone and creating a beautiful contrast. I could talk about the vocals forever… They have a lovely live feel to them and are not heavily polished with studio effects, which is very refreshing and adds authenticity. We have seen this so many times with the likes of The Everly Brothers or Oasis– the sound of brothers is truly an instrument in itself, and it’s something you can't replicate or buy.

The piano adds a nice touch to the song in the odd places, padding out the sound. The song grows in intensity before dying back to fingerpicking and the quietly sung final lyrics. The build-up and release of tension makes you want to press play again at the song’s end. And be on the lookout for the live video of this track, which is actually the version that we’ve reviewed here.

The group says: “I was reflecting on the last decade. There were so many moments where we knew we were on the right path, but we kept falling. Maybe that’s how it needs to be for a certain moment of time—or even forever. While you live life this way, try to keep your head up, but keep going and accept failing and falling are part of it. We love this Denzel Washington quote, ‘Fall down seven times. Get up eight’.”
