Sleeping Together - “Time to Reflect”

Sleeping Together give you “Time to Reflect” as you ponder the power of the punchy rhythms in their latest indie rocker. Formed over FaceTime, they emerged from lockdown in 2022 and are quickly becoming ones to watch and listen for. As for the song, I am instantly captured by the rhythmic hook that jumps out of my speakers from time stamp zero. The tasty unison shifts from downbeats to upbeats and leaves lovely little gaps for the vocals to fill, and they fill them wickedly well.

When the chorus hits, a storm of strumming and drumming rolls across the sonic horizon and vocals shoot like lightning across the sky, ending on a brilliant flash of melody that illuminates the theme: “I’m in love with your alter ego. Wherever she goes, I will follow.” When the bridge arrives, there is a great build and some nice chords that provide crafty harmonic interest while squashing any potential doubts about this relatively new band. They clearly know how to put notes together! I’m looking forward to what the future holds for these gents.

The band adds: “Time to Reflect is about losing yourself in a relationship and how hindsight is a wonderful thing, mostly. It’s easy to get lost in love, but it’s not always as bad as it’s made out to be, provided you keep hold of the key elements of yourself.”
