Sarah Julia - “Bigger Picture”

Dutch sister duo Sarah Julia have just unveiled their luminous indie folk track, “Bigger Picture.”

Bigger Picture” is a stunning, intimate song filled with an introspective vibe that walks the same lineage as Linda Perhacs. It has the same dreamlike psychedelia and weightless, graceful harmonies which only heightens the timeless nature of this single.

The arrangement is subtle, yet layered with a quiet sense of sophistication. Vibrant layers unfold patiently and meditatively over a delicate, looping percussive groove. It has an undeniable trance-inducing sense of forward motion. You are suspended in a wash of hazy and pastoral colours. Colours that blur at the edges and breathe in and out of focus. Some of the ambient layering echoes the nostalgic, lo-fi atmospherics of Boards of Canada.

Bigger Picture” never lurches into a bombastic production shift, even as we reach the closing stages of the composition. The music is unwavering from its immersive and hypnotic path. This is pure, haunting spectacle over tension and release.

The vocals of Sarah Julia are the crowning glory. Featherlight, effortless and exquisitely harmonic. The performance glides with a spectral sense of beauty and drifts with a serene fluidity. Each phrase unfolds in radiant harmonies, intertwining and weaving an otherworldly tapestry that floats over the music.

On the track Sarah Julia adds: “‘Bigger Picture‘ invites you to zoom out on your life, reminding you how easily small things can start to feel incredibly important. It’s about letting go of control, trusting your fate and feelings that are bigger than you can comprehend.”

Evocative and intoxicatingly spellbinding, “Bigger Picture” is that celestial slice of indie folk missing in your life. Connect with Sarah Julia: Spotify | Instagram | TikTok | Facebook
