Rosie H Sullivan - “Timeless”

November 10 will mark the release of Rosie H Sullivan’s new EP, In My Nature, so we had to be sure and feature the final single, “Timeless.”

The song invites the raw and enchanting tones of an acoustic guitar into your ears, delicately laying a chill and introspective foundation. It is not long before Sullivan reminds us why we became fans of hers in the first place: that opulent voice. And if you’ve managed to keep up with the steady release of singles leading up to the new EP, her emotive and lulling delivery of lyrics should come as no surprise.

Sullivan has a splendid and natural vocal ability, so you will not find any effects or modern production tactics here. For most of the track, it’s as though she simply pulled the guitar from its case and poured “Timeless into a microphone. Her breathy falsetto is more than enough to keep you coming back for more and, in this instance, we would have been perfectly content with just a solo performance.

But as the track rolls on, our ears are filled with some round notes from a bass, which widen the sonic field and help to create a world where only Sullivan’s music exists. The final third of “Timeless” makes room for a string arrangement to gently swoop in, reinforcing the already lush, dream-like atmosphere. Whether this is your first time hearing Rosie H Sullivan, or you’ve been a fan since “So It Is,” prepare to be completely blown away.
