Redbud - “Kin”

Redbud, an Austin-based band, have just released the song, “Kin,” a beautiful example of contemporary psychedelia. Dreamy, lush, and refined is the only way I can describe the music. It simply reminds me of the summer. The singer effortlessly delivers the lines with a lively charm, hitting every note. It is a faultless vocal performance and contributes to the song as if it were an instrument rather than a “vocal.” It is also accompanied by some incredibly breezy backing vocal lines.

You feel like getting up and moving as the production smoothly shuffles along. The music of “Kin” has a really great psychedelic vibe, thanks to the guitars. Before the song slows down and returns with a brilliant grandeur, the middle breakdown makes me think of Frank Zappa right away. I truly love this song. The artist says: “The lyrics to “Kin” came from a poem my older sister wrote in her first year of college... She was… seeing the world around her with a fresh pair of eyes. Now an independent adult at a university thousands of miles away from home, she could make what she wanted of the world... She was saying, I choose adventure, I want to create, participate, and contribute.”

Redbud’s EP, Long Night, will release on February 24th via Good Eye Records. And Spotify streamers, we did not forget about you:
