Polyglam - “Loss”

LA-based indie trio Polyglam have just released the prolific indie-pop / rock song, “Loss.” The track explores the emotions of heartbreak and redemption and is loaded with texture and nostalgic tones that will leave you wanting more.

The song opens to the stripped-back, bright and sustaining tones of piano. Its cadence gains forward momentum when synthy layers of strings start to pad the arrangement. “Loss” ebbs and flows pleasingly, creating a rich and dynamic listening experience. Layers are applied to create an increasingly complex sonic landscape. Muted electric guitar tones playfully riff whilst a grooving bass line adds a satisfying vintage flare. These layers are then playfully removed to draw focus to the gorgeous vocals and storytelling lyrics.

The vocals on “Loss” are arranged to give the sense of dialogue between the male and female protagonists. Both deliveries are soft in delivery, but they perfectly convey the emotion rooted in the lyrics. The rich, harmonizing layers of backing vocals make the song an absolute joy to hear. These layers are dreamy and breathy in tone, providing a sense of warmth whilst heightening the track’s sense of ebb and flow.

Loss” elegantly explores the cyclical nature of relationships. It tackles the painful process of realizing you have to move forward when feeling paralyzed in the wake of a relationship that you took for granted. As a new chapter in your life begins, the song also explores how these feelings of loss disappear.

Loss” is a gorgeous journey through heartbreak and renewal and is brimmed full of weaving melodic textures and gorgeous vocal layers.
