Plàsi - “Father’s Eyes”
Swedish-Greek indie folk artist Plàsi has just released the evocative indie folk track, “Father’s Eyes.”
“Father’s Eyes” is a slow burning indie folk number that lulls you into a meditative state with ease. With its warm textured acoustic guitars, the composition feels exquisitely intimate as they weave their hypnotic pattern. Driving the song forward at a steady beat are the mediterranean tinged percussive grooves.
As these two elements come together you easily form the impression of water playing with the sunlight as it laps upon the shore in a mesmerising dance. Plàsi only adds subtle yet sublimely vivid analog key lines that pulse on top. Beautifully heightening the sense of movement, it also further echoes the dimotika and nisiotika folk styles.
Plàsi delivers an incredibly warm, reflective, almost conversational vocal across the track. The delivery never sounds heavy or over dramatic, instead it flows in a fashion that matches the ebb and flow of the spellbinding music. “Father’s Eyes” is not only a musical treat, but it is also deeply profound, exploring the tangled web of relationships we often have with our parents.
On the meaning behind the track, Plàsi elaborates: “I was searching for a grounded feeling where you could feel the acoustic elements without losing the bigger picture. I finally found that sound on ‘Father’s Eyes’. It’s about the toxic relationship we can have with our parents. We don’t want to see or learn from our similarities. Instead, we’re just trying to be different from them. The lyrics are like a discussion between a father and a son. You get both sides. However, there’s a hopeful undertone. Maybe we can learn from one another instead of focusing on our differences.”
