Kuni - “Piece Of Land”

When last we heard from Italy-based singer-songwriter Eleonora Danese, aka Kuni, she had just released “Home To Me,” a sweet bundle of indie-folk goodness. Today, she is back on the blog with the final single from her EP: “Piece Of Land.”

She begins this track with some exquisite, retro-infused electric guitar, which lays a nice, vintage foundation for the rest of the song. Her vocals soon fall into place, offering the arrangement more of an indie pop atmosphere, but still stripped-back enough to let it fit nicely beneath the canopy of modern folksy goodness. Just before the thirty-second mark, she gives us some sweetly placed vocal harmonies as the song begins its ascent.

Bass and synth are then added to the mix, offering some thickness to the production upon entering the refrain. The second half of “Piece Of Land” beholds a gentle beat that propels the song forward. As Kuni sings to us, there are some great moments of synth-flavored ear candy, in addition to some delightful call-and-response backing vocals that populate the final section of the song. We can hear a bit of Dolores O'Riordan in here, though Kuni is certainly able to hold her own.

Overall, “Piece Of Land” is a fantastic track that is sure to bring you back for multiple listens, but be sure to also take a dive into the rest of the EP, Walls Have Told Me, which is now available everywhere.
