Paige Valentine - “High”

Western Australia-based singer-songwriter Paige Valentine has just released her new LP, Lucky Blue. And from this collection of your future favorite songs, a new single rises to the surface: “High.”

After a brief, atmospheric fade-in, “High” comes to life with the chugging of guitar and Valentine’s remarkable voice. She has a confident and breathy delivery that we truly cannot resist, and once you catch an earful of her performance, we have a feeling that you shall feel the same.

The arrival of the second verse beckons the deep pulse from a kick drum as a layer of synth pads the track’s underbelly. And listeners do not have to wait long to be hit in the face with one of the catchiest hooks we’ve heard all year, complete with Valentine’s upper register and full-on rhythm section.

Highlights include outstanding layers of reverberating backing vocals that flow in and out of the arrangement, a flavorful supply of ’80s-tinged keys that will undoubtedly have you returning to “High,” again and again, and a bitchin’ guitar solo that adds a cherry to the top of this indie rocking slice of aural pie.

If you’ve been wondering how to get our undivided attention, this is how it is done, people. We highly encourage you to get “High” into your ears asap– and while you’re at it, press the play button on the rest of the album, now available everywhere.
