Hayden’s “On A Beach,” featuring Feist, is a joyous track that has a lovely carefree attitude. The instrumentation is incredibly sparse, with a pulsing bass and kick drum providing the foundation for the song. Percussion is gradually introduced, with clap sounds and a shaker adding to the rhythm. The snare eventually joins in, creating a satisfying beat that propels the song forward.

As the song builds, a synth begins to pulse, making for a nice dreamy pad and guitar adds a subtle layer. The dynamic breaks are well-placed, and when the song starts again, it’s incredibly satisfying. Hayden and Feist’s vocals intertwine beautifully. The playful interplay between the two is what makes this track special, harmonizing and bringing a sense of warmth and intimacy. The lyrics touch on the desire to return to simpler times and they are conveyed as a conversation between Hayden and Feist.

The “meditation” speech at the end of the song is a quirky touch that adds to the overall charm of the track. “On A Beach” is a good song and is full of charm. Be sure to check out the video, which features Steve Buscemi:
