Noah Derksen - “Love is Such a Hard Thing”

Exploring the solitude that comes after a breakup, we find Noah Derksen creating his art as a means to cope. “Love is Such a Hard Thing” contains the words that have long been on the tips of many of our tongues, because we’ve all been there, in one way or another, gasping for breath at the end of a relationship. The difference here is that Derksen’s words have the advantage of being accompanied by a fantastic musical arrangement.

From the acoustic guitar to the piano and the rhythm section, this track is thick with that 1970s-style compression that we have grown to favor inside of these raw and emotional folksy recordings. And pressing play will lead you to the glorious realization that Derksen’s voice contains that melodious rasp that only a handful of singers have been blessed with having, such as the likes of Ray LaMontagne and, more recently, Caamp. This is one for the playlists, people, so that’s exactly where we’re putting it. Enjoy!

And for all of you folks who only listen to Spotify, here ya go. However, you absolutely should not miss this heartfelt performance:
