Hayfitz - “Music Room”

From his upcoming LP, Everything Else, Hayfitz finds his way onto our blog with “Music Room.”

Upon pressing play, all who hear this indie folk number will marvel at how wonderfully raw and sparse it is. A delicately strummed acoustic guitar carves a path through some ethereal synth padding, leaving more than enough room for Hayfitz’s vulnerable vocal. And though it appears as though it has been expertly doubled, the sound still enters your ears as though nothing exists but his message and the listener. This is one of the most intimate vocal performances we’ve heard in quite some time.

You may recognize Hayfitz’s voice from any number of top tier playlists, such as those from La Blogetheque and alexrainbirdMusic, but if this is your first time experiencing his music, you are truly in for a delight. Fans of Bon Iver, Sufjan Stevens, and Elliott Smith will find themselves immediately at home within his sound. And that is exactly what we look for in music– a safe place to which we can escape and forget about everything else. This is the kind of song that wraps its gentle arms around you and tells you a story of love and longing.

As “Music Room” progresses, the sound expands into a delightful and natural crescendo, ultimately climaxing around three and a half minutes deep. If you’re the kind of person who seeks music that will fully consume you and emotionally move you, this is the one for you.
